The value of a Joan of Arc Academy education
Joan of Arc Academy is unique in the Ottawa-Gatineau area. We are the region's only private elementary bilingual girls school. From Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8, girls at Joan of Arc build a strong bilingual educational foundation in all subjects, and at the same time are able to master the English and French languages.
Our students, staff and parents have created an environment that encourages academic excellence, leadership, self-discovery, commitment, self-discipline and a sense of community. It is this environment that helps each student realize her academic potential and discover her value as an individual.
Joan of Arc Academy girls go out into the world with a clear sense of their unique strengths, characteristics and an understanding of what they have to contribute.
Girls flourish in the Joan of Arc environment
Joan of Arc students thrive in a warm, family-like, supportive atmosphere with a keen sense of community. Smaller class sizes mean that students can develop strong connections to one another.
School staff and teachers make it a priority to establish a good rapport with each student. Students also benefit from a high degree of interaction among teachers, parents and other students.
A tradition of excellence in education for girls
For more than half a century, parents have looked to Joan of Arc, a private Catholic school, for a unique educational environment for their daughters.
Our school began as La Maison Jeanne d'Arc, which the Congrégation des Soeurs de Jeanne d'Arc founded in 1954 in Ottawa's Westboro community. In 1991, a non-profit organization was created to lead Joan of Arc Academy into a new era, built on a respected base of achievement. Since 2002, the school has been located at our current site, which has allowed us to expand our program and increase student numbers.
